They will learn why it’s important to carry out regular risk assessments in the workplace, and they will discover ways to identify, monitor and control the hazards that are often associated with the building and civil engineering sectors.

At the end of the course you will be able to:
implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation affecting your daily work
implement new guidance and industry best practice
state your duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment

The Assessment Process
Our CITB SMSTS training courses, run for a full 5 days. Candidates will need to complete case studies and exercises to the satisfaction of the course leader, and they will also need to sit an exam at the end of the programme to prove their competency.
The only way to guarantee that Site Managers are equipped for their role is to ensure they attend every single workshop and training session that takes place as part of the SMSTS course. 100% attendance will be required from each candidate in order to successfully complete the certificate.
Qualifications are officially valid for 5 years after the date of completion of the training course. However, we would always recommend that candidates book themselves onto an SMSTS refresher course no longer than 3 years after their initial training. Legislation within the construction industry, along with the culture that underpins it, is changing from quarter to quarter, so attending regular refresher programmes is the only way to ensure that candidates are kept up to date with the latest rules and regulations.

Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken.

CITB Certification
A CITB Site Safety Plus certificate.
This must be renewed every 5 years by attending the SMSTS Refresher course.
Delegates are required to attend all sessions, since without full attendance the CITB certificate will not be awarded.
Delegates must have a good standard of spoken and written English for this course- Please contact us if there are any concerns regarding this.
